The red cedars are part of the Cypress family, with lush, evergreen foliage that is mid-green in the summer, becoming tinged with bronze in the winter to provide an attractive seasonal variation. Unlike its much-maligned relative the Lleylandii, the Martin red cedar has slower growth, taking 20 years to reach just six metres, and staying green and healthy on the inside, unlike faster-growing varieties.

Evergreen Laurel is also a feast for the senses, with big, glossy leaves that turn from deep red to vivid green. In the summer it has exotically fragrant creamy flowers, followed by a mass of black berries in autumn.
